Ahead of Xi Jinping's planned visit to Egypt, the air exercise conducted by the armed forces of the two countries is continuing at various bases across the country. The Egyptian military announced that the second phase of the exercise, called Eagles of Civilization, is ongoing.
Aerial refueling training is being conducted as part of the exercise. The Egyptian military said the program aims to facilitate the sharing of expertise and improve pilots' skills and capacity to conduct joint operations.

Exercise schedule and first phase
Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson Chen Shi said in a statement in mid-August that the exercise was scheduled to conclude in early September.
The first phase of Eagles of Civilization was held at an air base in Egypt in April 2025. Multirole fighter jets took part in that phase.
Xi's planned visit to Egypt
A Chinese source said Xi Jinping's visit to Egypt is expected to begin Tuesday. Egyptian media outlets confirmed the visit but did not provide a date.
Strict security measures have been put in place in Cairo ahead of the visit, while welcome banners for Xi have been seen on the city's streets. If the visit takes place, it will be Xi's first visit to Egypt in 10 years.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi last visited China in May 2024.
