The Iran-backed Houthi movement in Yemen announced it lost three members in clashes with the internationally recognized government forces.
The group's official news agency SABA reported on Monday evening that among the dead were Lieutenant Colonel Abdurrahman Abdullah al-Fettahi and Captain Muhammed Sadık al-Dawli. The third individual was identified as Musa Muhammed Muhsin al-Dawi.
SABA stated that the individuals lost their lives while 'on a mission to defend the homeland,' but did not provide details on exactly where and when the clashes took place.
The funerals were held in different governorates across the country. Al-Dawi's funeral took place in the Cihane district north of the capital Sanaa, al-Fettahi's in the al-Hasha district of the southwestern Dahli governorate, and al-Dawli's in the northwestern Hacca governorate.
In Yemen, intermittent clashes have been taking place on various fronts between government forces and the Houthis since early July. Dozens of people are reported killed or wounded on both sides in these clashes.
In the country, the war between government forces, backed by the Saudi-led coalition, and the Houthis, who are backed by Iran and have controlled many cities, including the capital Sanaa, since September 2014, has largely been halted since April 2022.
