The Houthi group in Yemen released a video it said shows a missile launched by its fighters directly striking a vehicle belonging to Saudi-backed forces. No details were disclosed about the location or timing of the strike, and the footage or the casualties from the attack could not be independently verified.
The video, which carries the logo of the Houthis’ war media and was circulated by conflict-monitoring accounts on X, shows footage filmed from a mountain overlooking a valley dotted with trees before a large explosion hits the target, sending clouds of smoke and dust into the air.
Escalation and mutual accusations
The release comes amid escalating clashes between the Houthis and Saudi-backed forces. The Houthis said airstrikes targeted Al-Hadara Market in the Al-Wazi'iyah area of Taiz province, killing at least 30 people and injuring eight others, according to Anis Al-Asbahi, a spokesperson for the group’s Health Ministry.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree accused Saudi Arabia of being behind the strikes without providing evidence, while authorities affiliated with Yemen’s government in Taiz held the Houthis responsible and said no airstrikes had been carried out in the area. NBC News, citing the Associated Press, reported that the AP could not independently verify either side’s account.
