The Iranian army said its air defense forces shot down a U.S. LUCAS drone over the coastal city of Bandar Abbas in southern Iran on Sunday morning.
The army's public relations office said the drone was hit and destroyed over Bandar Abbas by air defense systems operating as part of the country's integrated air defense network. No further details were disclosed about the timing of the operation or the drone's mission.
The semi-official Tasnim news agency carried the army's announcement. The Iranian account could not be independently verified, and the U.S. side issued no comment.
What is the LUCAS drone?

LUCAS stands for "Low-Cost Unmanned Combat Attack System." It is a one-way attack drone produced by the U.S. company Specter Works and was developed using reverse engineering of Iran's Shahed-136 drone.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced on October 20 that it had shot down a U.S. MQ-9 drone over the Strait of Hormuz, saying it was the 54th drone of this type it had downed.
