Iran's men's national volleyball team will hold a training camp in Russia ahead of the 2026 Asian Championship, a key qualifying tournament on the road to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The team, led by head coach Roberto Piazza, will travel to Russia with a 14-player squad after completing their current training in Tehran.
Immediately after completing the camp in Russia, the Iranian team will move to Fukuoka, Japan, where the championship will be held. The 2026 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship will take place in the city from September 4 to 13.
This tournament serves as the first qualifying stage that will determine which team from the Asian continent will participate in the 2028 Olympics. The team that finishes first in the championship will secure a direct ticket to the Los Angeles Olympics.
Meanwhile, the teams that finish in the top three of the tournament will earn the right to compete in the 2027 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Cup. Therefore, a fierce battle for the Olympic berth is expected among Asia's strongest teams.
