Israel's military continued its attacks on Lebanese territory despite the framework agreement brokered by the US between Israel and Lebanon. The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported that two people were wounded in a drone strike on a garbage truck near the towns of Shukin and Kfar Dajjal in Nabatieh province.
On the same night, another strike targeted a vehicle in southern Lebanon, while demolition operations were carried out in the border town of Khiam. NNA also announced that the towns of Kfar Reman and Nabatieh al-Fawqa were targeted by drones, but no casualties were reported in those attacks.
These strikes came immediately after Amnesty International called for a war crimes investigation into three separate Israeli attacks in Lebanon in March. Amnesty stated that attacks on homes in the Tyre, Sidon, and Nabatieh regions on March 6, 12, and 13 killed 24 civilians, including 12 children and a pregnant woman, and wounded 18 others.
Speaking on behalf of the organization, Kristine Beckerle said, "The Israeli army wiped out entire families, including a dozen children, in just one week in Lebanon and displayed a reckless disregard for civilian lives." Beckerle called on the international community to impose a comprehensive arms embargo on Israel and to investigate those responsible under universal jurisdiction.
Amnesty also warned that the US-brokered Israel-Lebanon agreement signed on June 26 could obstruct accountability, and called on Lebanon to recognize the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The agreement does not compel Israel to withdraw from the large swathes of southern Lebanon it occupies, while signaling that Israel will continue attacks it deems necessary.
The Lebanese Health Ministry announced that the death toll from Israeli attacks on the country since March 2 has risen to 4,321, with 12,204 wounded.
