The Saudi-led coalition announced that a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis in Yemen toward Taif, in the west of the country, was neutralized early in the morning.
Emergency warnings issued in Jeddah and Yanbu were later lifted. Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense announced that the danger had passed in both areas but did not specify what threat had prompted the warnings.
The coalition did not provide information on whether there were casualties or material damage during the interception and destruction of the missile.
Missile fragments cause damage in Riyadh
Before this development, air defense systems intercepted two ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis on Tuesday night. Damage occurred in Riyadh after some missile fragments fell.

Civil Defense reported that the fragments damaged a building, a construction project and a vehicle. It was announced that there were no casualties.
The coalition also announced earlier on Tuesday that it had intercepted four unmanned aerial vehicles and three ballistic missiles sent toward Saudi Arabia by the Houthis.
Conflict in Yemen has continued since 2015
The missile interceptions took place amid intensified fighting between the Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognized government.
After the Houthis seized Yemen’s capital, Sana’a, and parts of the country in 2014, Saudi Arabia began leading a military coalition formed against the group in March 2015.
