Türkiye attends ceremony marking end of UN mission in Somalia
Türkiye’s Ambassador to Somalia Ferhat Alkan attended a ceremony held in Mogadishu for the United Nations Transitional Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS), whose mandate ends on October 31, 2026.
Türkiye’s Ambassador to Somalia Ferhat Alkan attended a ceremony held in the capital, Mogadishu, for the United Nations Transitional Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS), whose mandate ends on October 31, 2026, the Turkish Embassy in Mogadishu announced.
The transitional mission replaced the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) in 2024 and was tasked with gradually transferring its responsibilities to the Somali government and the United Nations country team.
The Turkish Embassy published its announcement in Turkish, English and Somali, referring to the mission and the United Nations.
