With funding from Türkiye Diyanet Vakfı, the distribution of 5,000 hygiene kits to displaced and affected families in the Gaza Strip has begun. The project, carried out by the Salam Relief and Development Association, reached families living in camps in the Gaza and North Gaza governorates on Wednesday.
Association Director Yakub Süleyman announced that 2,500 hygiene kits were distributed to widowed, impoverished, and affected families on the first day of the project. Süleyman stated that an additional 2,500 kits would be distributed on Thursday, bringing the total to 5,000 kits delivered to the most vulnerable groups.
The distributed kits contain essential personal and household cleaning items such as toothpaste, shampoo, soap, and laundry detergent. Süleyman noted that access to these products has become a major challenge for families due to the humanitarian crisis and shortage of basic necessities.
Emphasizing that the project aims to improve the health and living conditions of displaced families and help them meet their daily needs, Süleyman thanked Türkiye Diyanet Vakfı and the Turkish people for their continued support of humanitarian efforts in Gaza.

According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the vast majority of the approximately 2.1 million people in the Gaza Strip remain displaced and lack basic services and minimum living conditions. The UN had previously warned that water scarcity forces many families to choose daily between drinking water and personal hygiene and disease prevention.
Israel, with US support, launched a genocidal war on Gaza on October 8, 2023. Over two years of attacks, approximately 73,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 173,000 injured. The majority of the dead are children and women, and 90 percent of the infrastructure has been destroyed.
Türkiye Diyanet Vakfı continues its humanitarian aid projects in Gaza. Last January, the foundation announced that millions of Palestinians have received food, health, and shelter assistance since October 2023.
