Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that they will increase military and economic pressure to bring Russia to the negotiating table. Speaking at the 2026 Ukrainian Ambassadors Conference in Kyiv, Zelensky said that in the autumn months they will continue long-range strikes on targets inside Russia and tighten sanctions against Moscow.
The Ukrainian leader accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of intending to prolong the war. Zelensky said, "Putin is preparing for new mobilization and new attacks. We see Russia's real intentions. We are working to unite our allies and pressure the aggressor."
Russia launched a military attack on Ukraine on February 24, 2022. The Moscow administration demands that Kyiv abandon its goal of joining Western military alliances for the war to end. Ukraine, however, considers this demand as interference in its internal affairs.
