Speaking to the Young Journalists Club affiliated with Iranian state television, Cevani said the war must end on the basis of the memorandum of understanding reached with the United States.
According to Cevani, the Strait of Hormuz could be reopened after the United States fulfills its commitments under the memorandum. However, Cevani said the arrangement in the strait would not return to its prewar state and that the existing structure would change.
He said discussions on the strait’s future status could be raised after the end of the war is confirmed. Cevani added that it would only be possible at that stage to view the Strait of Hormuz solely as a waterway between Iran and Oman.
