Saudi meetings in Atlanta
In Atlanta, Prince Faisal bin Farhan held a series of meetings with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand and the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas.
According to the Saudi Foreign Ministry, the meeting with Lavrov addressed the escalation in Yemen. Following the meeting with Rubio, the Saudi and U.S. sides signed an agreement for the United States to participate in Expo 2030 Riyadh as an official participant.
Fidan steps up contacts
On the sidelines of the meeting, Fidan also met his U.S., Japanese, Indonesian and German counterparts: Marco Rubio, Toshimitsu Motegi, Arrmanatha Nasir and Johann Wadephul.
The meeting came as the Kingdom faced attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi group targeting civilian airports and vital infrastructure, prompting the U.S. State Department on October 23 to order the departure of its nonessential personnel and their families from the Kingdom.
