Government supporters in Tehran burned a giant poster featuring images of U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday evening, November 4, while state television broadcast a staged execution of “Trump” inside a cell in Tajrish Square in the northern part of the capital. The nighttime performances came at the end of a day during which Iran marked the 47th anniversary of the 1979 takeover of the U.S. Embassy, one day after the midterm elections in which Trump’s Republican Party lost control of Congress.
“Death to America” outside the “den of espionage”
The main march for the “National Day of Fighting Global Arrogance” set out in the morning from Palestine Square, traveling along Taleghani Street toward the former U.S. Embassy, which Iranian authorities call the “den of espionage.” Tens of thousands of people, mostly students, took part alongside senior military and civilian officials, Anadolu Agency reported. Similar events were held at 900 locations across the country.
Participants chanted “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” and carried signs, including one depicting Trump as a bloodstained dog led by someone resembling Netanyahu, Agence France-Presse reported. Some also carried cardboard figures of Trump and other officials dressed in prison uniforms.

Tehran Mayor Alireza Zakani said the United States’ defeat in the latest elections was a direct result of the Iranian people’s steadfastness, adding: “Through the will of the nation and the leadership, we humiliated America in every dimension,” Iran’s Press TV reported. The final statement called for retaliation over the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, an update to the U.S. and Israeli “target bank,” and an “honorable withdrawal” from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
Poster burns in Enghelab Square
After nightfall, government supporters gathered in Enghelab (Revolution) Square in central Tehran for a rally titled “We will kill Trump.” The event featured the symbolic burning of a giant poster showing Trump, Netanyahu and others whom Mehr News Agency described as “killers” of the late Supreme Leader. Footage broadcast by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting news agency showed flames consuming the poster before a crowd waving Iranian flags and red banners.
“Trump in the cage”
In Tajrish Square, state television broadcast live, under the title “Trump in the Cage,” a scene inside a cell raised above the square. It showed a character portraying Trump wearing a mask and an orange prison uniform, while a masked guard in military attire bound the character with chains and placed a noose around the character’s neck. The Tehran Beautification Organization had installed the cell in late October, and an actor plays Trump inside it, the Associated Press reported.
State television wrote in its news ticker that “250 nights of popular presence in streets and squares” had caused the enemy camp “shaking and political defeat.” The statement referred to ongoing nighttime gatherings since the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran began on February 28 and added that the armed forces had “imposed their will on the U.S. elections” by keeping the Strait of Hormuz closed.
In a message marking the occasion, Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said that “the myth of an invincible America” had ended, warning that the confrontation “will take much broader dimensions” if the attacks recur. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, meanwhile, said that Americans “said no to war” at the ballot box.
