The areas of Kantara, Kfar Tibnit and Nabatieh al-Fawqa in southern Lebanon were targeted by Israeli army airstrikes. The attacks were carried out while the ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel and the framework agreement between the two countries were in force.
Ceasefire and displacement in Lebanon
The Israeli army began intensive airstrikes on Lebanon on March 2. During the attacks, many settlements in the country’s south remained under Israeli army control.
The Lebanese government said the number of people forced to leave their homes because of the attacks had exceeded 1 million. The ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel took effect on April 17 and was later extended several times.
Casualties in the attacks
According to a statement issued by Lebanon’s Health Ministry on October 12, at least 4,389 people have been killed in Israeli attacks since March 2.

Israel-Lebanon framework agreement
Israel and Lebanon signed a framework agreement on June 26 under U.S. mediation. The agreement aims to resolve disputes between the two countries and establish long-term peace.
The framework agreement calls for the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied Lebanese territory and the continuation of negotiations between the parties. Nevertheless, Israel’s presence in Lebanese territory and its attacks on the country continue.
