A video filmed by Israeli soldiers themselves has circulated widely, showing them moving through the home of a displaced Lebanese family in southern Lebanon and joking in front of the camera while planting explosives throughout it ahead of its demolition.
The video shows one soldier standing with a smile at the doorway and sarcastically inviting the person filming to come inside. The camera then moves to the rooms, where wires and explosive devices can be seen scattered across the floor. Arab and international media outlets, including Al Jazeera, circulated the video on October 21, and the Israeli military has not commented on it.
Demolishing homes and blocking returns
The video comes as Israeli forces continue to maintain a presence in parts of southern Lebanon despite the ceasefire, amid repeated reports of homes being demolished and blown up and residents being prevented from returning to their villages. Organizations monitoring the situation have collected hundreds of videos filmed by Israeli soldiers themselves in Gaza and Lebanon, some of which show the demolition and destruction of civilian homes.
