Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and French President Emmanuel Macron met at the Al-Yamama Royal Palace in Riyadh on Wednesday. Relations between the two countries, regional and international developments, and ways to expand cooperation were on the meeting’s agenda.
The two sides discussed the historic and strategic ties between Saudi Arabia and France, as well as ways to develop their partnership in various fields. Coordination of efforts to strengthen security and stability was also among the topics discussed.
Officials attending the meeting
Saudi Arabia was represented by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, and National Security Adviser Musaid bin Mohammed Al-Aiban.

The French delegation included Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot and Minister of the Armed Forces Catherine Vautrin.
Macron’s Gulf tour
Macron’s visit to Saudi Arabia took place as part of a Gulf tour that included Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar. The French president began his tour in Kuwait on Monday, then visited the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
The meeting in Riyadh took place amid rising regional tensions. Held as maritime shipping faced disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil shipments, the talks formed part of France’s diplomatic engagement with Gulf countries on regional security and bilateral cooperation.
