Ahmad Taibi, head of the Joint List bloc in the Knesset, accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of planning a new war on Iran in coordination with U.S. President Donald Trump after the U.S. midterm elections scheduled for Nov. 3, paving the way for new Israeli elections.
In an interview with Anadolu Agency on Oct. 29, Taibi said Netanyahu was unable to form a government after the latest elections and wanted to remain prime minister of a transitional government, then carry out military action against Iran before calling a new vote that he hoped would produce a result in his favor.
“Ben-Gvir will not be police minister again”
Taibi stressed that National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir “will not be police minister again.”

He added that Netanyahu was deeply angered by the high turnout among Arab citizens in the Knesset elections because their participation prevented his camp from securing the majority needed to form a government and thwarted his plan to return to power.
A safety net for an alternative government
Taibi urged opposition parties to quickly form an alternative government headed by Gadi Eisenkot to block Netanyahu’s path. He said the Joint List did not want to join the government but was prepared to provide it with a “safety net” from outside in exchange for understandings that would meet the demands of Arab society.
Taibi’s comments came after Netanyahu accused Arab parties of manipulating the election results, while Western media reports suggested that the inconclusive results could give Netanyahu grounds to launch another strike against Iran, an attack that would likely require U.S. support.
