The Turkish-Iraqi Business Council delegation affiliated with the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Türkiye (DEİK) continued its tour of Iraq with a visit to the capital, Baghdad, following stops in Erbil and Kirkuk. Accompanied by representatives of Türkiye’s embassy, the delegation met Iraqi Transport Minister Wahab al-Hasani.
The two sides discussed opportunities for cooperation in transport and regional connectivity amid projects linking the two countries, most notably the Development Road project, which stretches approximately 1,200 kilometers from the Gulf to the Turkish border and whose design has been completed.
Cooperation in higher education
A delegation from Türkiye’s embassy, including the education counsellor, also visited Iraqi Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Professor Haidar Bahaa. The delegation congratulated him on his appointment, and the two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in higher education.

Türkiye is one of Iraq’s leading trading partners, while thousands of Iraqi students study at Turkish universities.
