The US State Department has approved the sale of helicopters and military equipment expected to enhance Iraq’s transport, reconnaissance and air-to-ground target-detection capabilities.
The package, valued at $800 million, includes Bell 412 EPX and Bell 407M helicopters. Bell Textron will serve as the agreement’s prime contractor.
The department said the sale would contribute to US foreign policy and national security objectives. It added that the agreement would help strengthen the security of a strategic partner.
