Iranian Rezaei described new regulations around the Strait of Hormuz and the measures Iran would implement during a television program. Rezaei said an agreement with Oman on a new corridor under Iran’s control covering the entrance and exit of the strait would be signed in the coming days.
Rezaei said they would soon declare a restricted zone around the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that the zone, whose scope would begin in the area where the United States was imposing a naval blockade, would also include the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf.
Rezaei said ships entering the declared zone without permission would be blacklisted by Iran and announced that measures being implemented in the Strait of Hormuz would be tightened.
Rezaei argued that the strict measures Iran would take would have a greater impact than missile attacks. He said the commitment to keeping the Strait of Hormuz open was conditional on the United States not carrying out attacks or sabotage.
Referring also to Iran’s attacks on U.S. warships, Rezaei said they had tested an anti-ship missile for the first time on a U.S. warship 48 hours earlier.
Rezaei also claimed that countries mediating between Iran and the United States had been ineffective in implementing the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries.
Rezaei said Iran was currently selling oil and that the proceeds from these sales had been collected.
