Iranian Leader Mojtaba Khamenei ordered the armed forces to respond immediately and without any geographic limits to any threat from the enemies, amid concerns that war with the United States and Israel could resume.
In a statement published Saturday, Khamenei said that if the enemies resume their military or “terrorist” attacks, Iran, with its army and people, would determine when and under what conditions those attacks would end.
He also ordered an update to the list of military targets so that U.S. and Israeli “material and non-material” assets would be within the reach of Iranian forces.

Warnings of a widening war
Khamenei’s orders came after U.S. and Israeli threats of new military action, as the United States prepares for the midterm elections on November 3. The Iranian military had warned that any new U.S. military action would widen the scope of the war.
Iranian military spokesman Mohammad Akrami Nia said that if the U.S. president undertook further “adventures” in the region, “the flames of war would undoubtedly engulf a much wider geographic area.” Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi affirmed that the Iranian armed forces “will confront anyone who dares to harm our people.”
A parallel diplomatic track
Meanwhile, Qatari and Pakistani mediation efforts are continuing. Qatari mediators returned to Doha with the Iranian negotiating team to resume talks, while Tehran confirmed that it had received a message from U.S. Vice President JD Vance to Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei without announcing a response.
Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared publicly since he was injured in a U.S.-Israeli strike on February 28.
