U.S. President Donald Trump ordered a third aircraft carrier to be sent to the Middle East. The U.S. Central Command confirmed to the Daily Mail that the presence of three carrier strike groups in the region represents the largest U.S. naval buildup there since the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
The newspaper quoted two U.S. officials as saying that the carrier strike group led by the USS Theodore Roosevelt and the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit would arrive in the Middle East by late November. They would join the USS George H.W. Bush, deployed there since April, and the USS George Washington, which arrived in August to replace the USS Abraham Lincoln.
“It will end soon. We need to guarantee that there will never be a nuclear weapon,” Trump said in an interview with a radio station in Kansas City, without specifying a timeline.

The Wall Street Journal reported that U.S. Central Command chief Adm. Brad Cooper visited the White House on Thursday with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Dan Caine, presenting Trump with potential scenarios for striking Iran.
Earlier reports said the United States had told Gulf states to prepare for a short, intense campaign against Iran after the midterm elections scheduled for November 3.
