Civil society organizations, including the Palestine Support Platform, will simultaneously issue a “Voice of Humanity” call across five continents and in more than 17 countries on 19 August, World Humanitarian Day, to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The press conference announcing the call was held at the Bahariye Mevlevi Lodge. The statement said that civilians in Gaza lack access to food, medicine and health services, emphasizing that humanitarian aid is a right.
Call for Gaza in Üsküdar
Speaking on behalf of the platform, Kabaktepe called on people to gather at Üsküdar Square at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, 19 August. Kabaktepe said the event would draw attention to the blockade of Gaza, the suspension of humanitarian aid and the failure to comply with agreements.
Kabaktepe said tens of thousands of civilians had lost their lives because of Israel’s policies in Gaza and the occupation. Kabaktepe said children, patients, women and people in need were unable to access food and health services.
Call for 600 aid trucks to enter Gaza daily
Kabaktepe said the ceasefire process signed in 2025 provided for 600 humanitarian aid trucks to pass through the Gaza border every day, but that figure had not been reached on any day. Kabaktepe called for a humanitarian aid corridor to Gaza to be opened and for at least 600 aid trucks to enter the area every day.
Kabaktepe said the message “Humanitarian aid is not a favor but a right” would be delivered across five continents and called on international institutions and organizations to act to open a humanitarian aid corridor.
ÖNDER President Abdullah Ceylan, Sadakataşı Association President Kemal Özdal, Deniz Feneri Association President Mehmet Cengiz and İHH Secretary-General Ahmet Göksun attended the press conference.
