Türkiye's ambassador to Sudan, Fahri Türkar Üba, visited the coastal city of Suakin in the east of the country and closely inspected historic buildings dating from the Ottoman era on Suakin Island. The Turkish Embassy in Sudan announced the visit Wednesday in Turkish and Arabic.

Thanks to Suakin's mayor
The embassy expressed its thanks and appreciation to Suakin Mayor Abu Mohammed Al-Amin Arteega for the warm welcome and generous hospitality throughout the visit. Photos released by the embassy show Ambassador Üba and his accompanying delegation with several Suakin residents during their tour of the island and inside some of its old buildings.

A historic Red Sea port
Suakin lies on the western coast of the Red Sea, south of Port Sudan. For centuries, it was one of the region's leading ports and remained under Ottoman administration for a long period. The island is known for its old buildings made of coral stone, many of which date to the Ottoman era.
