U.S. Vice President JD Vance said Washington’s conflict with Iran would not evolve into a war lasting for years. Speaking to Fox News, Vance stressed that he trusted President Donald Trump on the matter.
“There is more work to do. But if you are worried about a new ‘forever war,’ Donald Trump absolutely will not allow that,” Vance said. Recalling that the United States had been dealing with the Iran issue for 47 years, Vance argued that Trump would achieve his objectives regarding Iran.

Trump also said at an election rally in Texas on October 27 that the war would end soon, claiming that Iran no longer had an army or navy.
Vance’s remarks came after a letter he sent through Qatari mediators to Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, proposing direct talks, emerged. The Washington Post reported that Istanbul and Doha were being considered as possible venues for a meeting.
