Iran claims it drove fighter jet away near Strait of Hormuz
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force allegedly drove a fighter jet described as “enemy” away from the area near Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday. Explosions and flashes of light were heard and seen around Hormuz, while different claims emerged about their source.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force allegedly forced a fighter jet described as “enemy” to leave the area near Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday.
The country to which the aircraft belonged and its model were not disclosed. No official statement was issued about the incident.
Explosions and flashes of light around Hormuz
Numerous explosions were heard around the Strait of Hormuz, off Sirik and near Qeshm Island. Residents of Qeshm Island said they saw flashes of light in the sky and heard various sounds.
Some assessments suggested that the sounds may have resulted from air defense systems being activated. Another claim was that the explosions may have been warning shots directed at vessels allegedly conducting unauthorized activities in the Strait of Hormuz.
There has been no official confirmation of the claims that the fighter jet was driven away or concerning the source of the explosions in the area.
