As fighting intensified again in Yemen, the army said 13 airstrikes were carried out against Houthi targets in Al-Bayda province in the country's central region.
The attacks, carried out Monday morning, targeted positions, military vehicles and gathering areas in the districts of Al-Sharyah, Dhi Na'im, Al-Bayda and As-Sawadiyah. The Yemeni army said the targets also included a missile launch system.
Command center targeted in Ad Dali
According to the army's statement, a Houthi command-and-control room and a thermal surveillance system on Mount Nasa, on the Murays front in the southern province of Ad Dali, were destroyed. A Houthi group in the same area was also targeted in an airstrike, the statement said.
Positions change in Taiz and Hudaydah
The Yemeni army said that, hours before the airstrikes, some positions in the provinces of Taiz and Hudaydah had been retaken following clashes. The army claimed that more than 20 Houthi members were killed or wounded in the fighting.
The army also said airstrikes were carried out against Houthi positions in the provinces of Taiz, Hudaydah, Marib and Al Jawf. The results of these attacks could not be independently verified.
Fighting has intensified again since July
Clashes have intensified again on several fronts in Yemen as reciprocal attacks have increased since July. The fighting escalated again after the end of a relatively calm period that had largely continued following the ceasefire brokered by the United Nations and implemented in April 2022.
